The annual Vancouver Police Department dog calendar is out, and this year’s edition see’s the police pooches lounging by the pool, trying out paddle boarding and kayaking.

Proceeds from the calendars, which sell for $15 each, will go to benefit the B.C. Cancer Foundation and the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation. Since 2010, the sale of the calendars has raised $450,000 for charity.

The calendar is funded and produced by the Candy Anfield Memorial Foundation, which was created by retired VPD Sgt. Mike Anfield in honour of his wife Candy, a VPD officer who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2004.

The stars of this year’s calendar, along with their handlers, will be downtown Thursday at the corner of Granville and Georgia streets, where residents can meet them in person and purchase a calendar.

The department’s canine unit has 16 handler/dog teams, comprised of 14 constables and two sergeants, working 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The teams are trained in criminal apprehension, as well as detecting narcotics, firearms and explosives.

The calendars are also available for sale:
