Small Paws Doggie Daycare in Burnaby hosted a dog-gone fun Halloween party for its furry friends last Sunday.

In all, 35 pooches showed up in costume, according to coowner Katya Irwin.

Karen Eskilson's dog Ruby won the best costume competition. Ruby was dressed as a peacock.

Corinne Herringer's dog Darby received a runner-up prize, but it was primarily based on the effort his owner put into her own costume, Irwin said.

Herringer dressed up as a "Dar-bee Keeper," and her pet was dressed as a bee.

The annual party is the daycare's most popular event, according to Irwin.

The daycare hosts a Meetup. com group with events for dog owners who come from all over the Lower Mainland.
