Mounties in Burnaby are seeking the public's help to identify a suspect who was allegedly involved in a bear spray incident this past January.
In a news release, Burnaby RCMP Media Relations Officer Cpl. Mike Kalanj says that on Jan. 24, 2022, an employee from a business approached a driver and vehicle near their workplace that they believed to be suspicious.
Kalanj added that after a short confrontation, the suspect entered the employee's store on Randolph Avenue near Kingsway and bear-sprayed two people before leaving the area.
Both victims were not seriously injured but required medical attention.
"This was a troubling attack. Burnaby RCMP has taken a number of steps in an attempt to identify the suspect, but we are now turning to the public for assistance," Kalanj said in the release.
"Please take a look at this suspect. If you recognize him, please contact our investigators."
Kalanj noted the suspect was wearing a high-visibility orange jacket with a hood at the time of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 22-2627.
