Burnaby will see rain, clouds and a little bit of sun this New Year's weekend.

After last week's weather extremes, including snow and heavy rainfall which snarled traffic and commutes, Burnaby is at last in for a slight reprieve.

With no government warnings, watches or advisories, the forecast for Metro Vancouver in the next week is a mix of sun, cloud and rain, according to Environment Canada.

This week will end on a rainy note: Thursday and Friday will see rain throughout the day and temperatures at 6 C.

But the sun will poke out from behind the clouds on the weekend, with temperatures around 8 C on New Year's Eve and 7 C on New Year's Day.

If you're headed out to party in the evening for New Year's celebrations, take a jacket with you, as the night of Dec. 31 will be cloudy with temperatures of 5 C.

Next week, plan for a 30 per cent chance of rain on Monday, raising to a 60 per cent chance on Tuesday. Flurries are possible in the evening on Monday and Tuesday, though the forecast may change.
