Joe Keithley may be making a move into politics, but as of press time, he wasn't ready to make an official announcement.
"I have spoken to people with the NDP and I hope to clear things up (this) week when I will make an announcement on what I will be doing," Keithley told the Burnaby NOW.
"What I can say is I'm not going to run in Burnaby-Lougheed."
Keithley was responding to a media report that he had thrown his hat into the ring to run for the NDP in the riding currently held by Liberal MLA Harry Bloy.
Keithley is best known as punk rocker Joey Shithead and the front man of DOA.
Keithley's political leanings were evident last year when he attended the local party for the federal NDP during the May 2 federal election.
Keithley, who ran for the Green Party in the 2001 provincial election, said he joined the NDP when he was 18, and he's cautiously returning to the orange fold.
"It's good to be with people of like mind," he said.
"This is a movement that's gaining steam."
