A man in a wheelchair who was allegedly involved in a fight with a pregnant woman at the Metrotown SkyTrain station has not come forward, and transit police are calling on the public for help.
On Feb. 20 at 4:10 p.m., two young women pushing babies in strollers entered the elevator on the platform level of the Metrotown SkyTrain station and a man in an electric wheelchair also entered the elevator and ran over the women's feet, according to a TransLink press release.
The man and the women got into an argument, and one of the women told him she was going to call the police and take his photo with her phone.
The argument continued until the elevator reached the street level and resulted in slaps and punches. Before the man left the area he struck the woman, who is seven months pregnant, numerous times in the face and head.
The incident was then reported to a SkyTrain attendant who called for the transit police and an ambulance.
The woman was taken to hospital, as she suffered numerous cuts and scratches to her face, hands and legs from the altercation.
She was released from hospital later that evening, according to the release.
The suspect is described as an aboriginal man, between 25 and 35 years old, with black hair, a goatee, brown eyes, wearing glasses and in a wheelchair.
Transit police want to speak with the man regarding the incident and are asking him to come forward.
