Sinclair tied the score 1-1 with a dramatic equalizer in the 87th minute to send the championship match into overtime.

After 120 minutes of play, including the extra time, the match went to penalty kicks.

Sinclair tallied one of Canada's four goals from the penalty spot and national team goalie Karina LeBlanc made two saves to give the Maple Leaf a 4-3 advantage on penalty shots and a 2-1 win in the gold-medal final in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Canada finished the XVI Pan Am Games with a record of three wins and two draws.

TENNIS COACH WINS AWARD

Burnaby's Dimitri Penchev was named the Canadian coach of the year by Tennis Canada in September.

Penchev, the high performance director at Global Tennis Academy in Coquitlam, received the award for achievements in training and development of top tennis athletes. He was publicly recognized for the national award at the recent Tennis B.C. annual general meeting in October.

NO STOPPING POINTS LEADER

Pacific International junior hockey league leading scorer Thomas Hardy scored two goals and assisted on a third to lead the Aldergrove Kodiaks to a 4-3 win over the Grandview Steelers at the Burnaby Winter Club on Sunday.
