It was an unlucky day for Burnaby soccer teams in provincial boys' playdowns on Monday.

All four zone contenders fell to their North Shore counterparts in AAA and AA playdowns.

Burnaby champion Burnaby South was walloped 5-0 by perennial North Shore powerhouse Argyle at Sutherland Turf, while district runner-up Burnaby North fell by a 4-1 score to West Vancouver.

South will now play West Van today (Wednesday) at Sutherland, beginning at 3: 30 p.m.

In AA qualifying, Burnaby schools fared little better.

Cariboo Hill had a strong second half but could not turn that advantage into a score, losing 1-0 to Windsor.

Burnaby No. 2 Alpha gave up three second-half goals before falling 4-1 to Seycove in the other AA contest.

In AAA play, North was without its starting and backup goalies against the North Shore runnerup. Malik Abassi counted North's lone goal with a second-half score.

In Burnaby, Cariboo had a goal called back on a foul in the first half and was unfortunate to not count a couple more in a better second half.

But Windsor took the lead midway through the second half on a breakdown from a throw-in, after Cariboo keeper Juggy Dosanjh had seconds earlier made a great diving save on a partial break.

Justin Dhaliwal had a couple of super chances on goal in the latter half, the second shot being bobbled by the keeper but staying out.

David Genet also had a glorious chance but his header was tipped over the bar. Andy Hehar also had a header go off the post.

Cariboo will play Seycove at Burnaby Lake today at 3 p.m.
