Desch paces SFU in San Diego

Simon Fraser University senior Chantel Desch recorded a personal best in the women’s 400 metres, while the women’s 4x100 relay team posted the second fastest time (46.46) in Great Northwest Athletic Conference history last week at the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego.
Desch, who placed second among 31 runners in the 400m, completed the race in 55.16 seconds, half a second behind San Diego’s Tyra Lea. Desch now sits 15th in NCAA rankings.
The relay team, including Valda Kabia, Katherine Lucas, Kira Pederson and Desch, also finished second, behind Alaska Anchorage’s GNAC record time of 46.37.
