Nine Burnaby Winter Club players picked in WHL draft

A number of Burnaby Winter Club Academy hockey players found themselves on Cloud Nine today. The Western Hockey League held its annual bantam draft, with nine members of the BWC bantam elite prep program having their names called.

A number of Burnaby Winter Club Academy hockey players found themselves on Cloud Nine today.

The Western Hockey League held its annual bantam draft, with nine members of the BWC bantam elite prep program having their names called.

Defenceman Elias Carmichael was the first Winter Club player selected, going 40th overall (2nd round) to Kelowna. The six-foot-one blueliner, a native of Langley, produced two goals and 17 assists over 30 games in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.

Centre Caeden Bankier, a five-foot-10 native of Surrey, went 49th overall to Kamloops. He counted 16 goals and 12 helpers in 30 games.

With the 51st pick, Seattle grabbed netminder Thomas Milic of Coquitlam. Milic posted a 2.06 goals against average over 22 games.

Also selected in the third round was winger Finlay Williams, at 54th overall, by Swift Current. The five-foot-10 forward from North Vancouver led the BWC Bruins in scoring with 10 goals and 22 assists over 29 games.

Burnaby native Nicco Camazzola was drafted with the 78th pick overall by the Vancouver Giants. The six-foot-one defenceman tallied twice and set up eight others during the season.

Matthew Seminoff was chosen 93rd overall by Kamloops, after registering 12 goals and 13 assists for the Bruins.

In the sixth round, netminder Mason Dunsford of New Westminster was chosen by Tri-Cities. The six-foot tall goalie recorded a 3.63 goals against average over nine games.

Adam Grenier was selected by Regina in the ninth round, after chalking up eight goals and 17 assists during the CSSHL season. Joining him on the Pats' draft list was defenceman Marcus Taylor, who was chosen with the 192nd pick overall.
