More than 800 athletes from 120 countries came to Burnaby's Bill Copeland Sports Centre, competing in the Taekwondo World junior championships.
The athletes delivered the competition, while Burnaby provided a great experience.
Athletes ages 14 to 17 challenged their weight division rivals for a chance to win a gold medal. For Canada, Skylar Park of Winnipeg won in the female under-59 kilogram category, beating Chinese Taipei's Yen Hsin Yeh 20-8.
Canada's other medal was recorded by Zach Hiebert in the male 74kg division.
Burnaby's Josipa Kafadar put up a valiant showing in the female 52kg category, beating Bhwana Lama of Nepal in the opening round, and Jia Li of China before falling 9-1 to Turkey's Ikra Kayir in the quarterfinals.
