ROSEBANK — A 10-year-old boy has died after a snowmobile he was driving collided with a tree in southern Manitoba.

Mounties were called Sunday evening to a private property about six kilometres north of the community of Rosebank in the Pembina Valley region.

Police say the boy had been snowmobiling with a group of family members.

They say he side-swiped a fence, which caused him to lose control and hit the tree.

The boy was wearing a helmet and other safety equipment but died in hospital.

Police say they continue to investigate.
