On April 22, a task team led by Joanna Wu from VCCPS-Vancouver Chinese Culture Promotion Society visited Edmonds Urgent and Primary Care Centre to donate 6,000 face masks to the front-line health-care workers there.

A day before, when Wu heard that health-care workers conducting COVID-19 testing at Edmonds Urgent and Primary Care Centre and PrimeCare Medical Centre were in urgent need of face masks, she immediately gathered 6,000 face masks received from Dianqi Wang, Chairman of the Chinese Cultural Harmony & Unity Society of Canada and VCCPS-Vancouver Chinese Culture Promotion Society, and delivered the face masks.

Dr. Baldev Sanghera of PrimeCare Medical Centre and several other doctors, representing 180 physicians associated with Burnaby Primary Care Network and over 1,000 health-care workers from Burnaby, accepted the donation. These doctors and healthcare workers are conducting testing of COVID-19 at various testing stations in Burnaby, coming into close contact with people that are presumed infected with or just carrying this deadly novel coronavirus, at risk of their own lives. They are the heroes that deserve our most respect and applause.

Joanna Wu thanked Dr. Baldev Sanghera and other doctors for their relentless bravery to fight this COVID-19 pandemic and great concern for the general public, saying “the front-line health-care workers are working very hard and doing a great job and we give them our dearest salute.”
