Re: Compost contract costs more than expected, Burnaby NOW, April 20.

Once again our mayor has shown us why a single party government is not in the public's best interest.

The mayor states that an increase of $1.57 million for a few months of extra compost is good news. One has to wonder why we have to pay 37 per cent more of the original contract of $4.17 million to compost for a few extra months to begin with. If it's for six months, that works out to $260,000 a month versus $77,000 for the other 54 months.

You would think that the compost facility would love the extra raw material as they make money both receiving the raw material and selling the finished compost. Methinks something doesn't smell right with this deal.
