I would like to congratulate the editor of the Burnaby NOW for speaking very openly about Burnaby's city hall politics.
Especially important is her pointing out the cozy relationship berween CUPE and the ruling party. Just a reminder: unions contributed about half of of the funds for the Burnaby Citizens Association election campaign, thereby effectively shutting out any other voices. This was more money than all the other parties collected combined.
The present system is not good for democracy and could conceivably lead to conflicts of interest.
