Dear Editor:

Re: Campaign targets Lennikov - again, Burnaby NOW, April 11.

An open letter to the Ukrainian Canadian Civil Liberties Association:

Your continued attacks on Mikhail Lennikov's presence in Canada are so sickening and unCanadian.

All problems to do with matters of your "homeland" are not acceptable in Canada. You promote hatred and racism against all Russians or anyone who has been associated with the KGB in their past.

The most important thing is that Mikhail Lennikov did not hide the fact that he had worked for the KGB but to you people that is enough to promote hatred.

Actually, there seems to be a good legal case against your association of racial hatred in the courts, and perhaps this should be the way to show you what bad Canadians you are.

Yes, there was a problem with Canada interning some Ukrainians in the past, but that has nothing at all to do with Mikhail Lennikov.

If your group really wants to follow this hateful approach, maybe Canada should investigate how many Ukrainians who are now in Canada were Nazi sympathizers and did whatever their Nazi friends wanted them to do during the Second World War - including assisting in the murders of Russians and others.

It is time for you to let Mikhail Lennikov and his family, who have lived a lawful existence in Canada, be. Your group is a very hateful group, and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
