Dear Editor:
Re: Police wrong to OK warnings, Editor's Letter, Burnaby NOW, Jan. 25.
Someone will surely accuse me of wishing to introduce a police state. However, I do not just endorse your position with regards to the police being wrong, I would go a step further: hire more officers to fine more people guilty of traffic infractions!
Don't stop at just seatbelts or the use of cellphones. Fine those who do not stop at stop signs or, my favourite beef, get the ones who do not use directional lights. (There are a lot of other things to be looked at!)
None of this should cost taxpayers a dime. Based on what's going on, each officer could easily generate a thousand dollars in fines each day he puts his uniform on!
