Letter: Stop the 'madness' of universal washrooms in Burnaby schools

The universal washrooms in Burnaby schools (such as the one seen here at Parkcrest Elementary) have been stirring up discussion — including from this reader.

Re: Shared, all-gender washrooms the future for Burnaby schools

I am a parent of soon to be two primary students in the Burnaby School District. I work in the Burnaby School District. I am sickened, furious and scared for my children and the students that I keep safe.

The large universal washrooms that BCA wants to mandate across the district has the potential to harm many children. The BCA has lost the support of many parents including myself. I come from a very political and labour family.

The BCA needs to realize we don’t live in Utopia and put the children’s safety first. They must admit they have made a horrendous mistake and stop this madness.

Sincerely,

Howie Smith
