Burnaby NOW readers have written in expressing their wish for a second gym in the planned Confederation Community Centre in the Burnaby Heights neighbourhood.

I feel the Willingdon Heights and Brentwood areas are currently very poorly served, especially for seniors. We do need a better community centre, especially one contributing to the welfare of the seniors in the community.
It could be part of a larger community centre, but in any case, there is a dire need for it.
For some seniors in the Willingdon Heights and Brentwood areas, Confederation Park is a little too far.
Since the population as a whole is aging, I would argue that the seniors’ activity centre would become more and more important.
I hope Burnaby takes a long view into the future and builds something that is useful 30 or 40 or more years in the future.

I would ask that we have the second gym.
I play pickleball, and the only centre that has indoor pickleball more than two days a week is Edmonds. In order to play, I have to preregister for drop in one week in advance at 9 a.m. It is usually filled in the first five minutes. I play on Wednesdays at 8:30 and have to leave the court to stand in line to register. I also play on Mondays from 9 to 11 a.m. at Christine Sinclair and usually preregister for the following Monday before I go into the gym to play. CSC has pickleball only two days a week. None at Confederation or Willingdon Centre. Cameron has limited play time.
Pickleball has been increasing in popularity in all age groups, and I definitely think that Confederation Centre should have two large gyms.
There is a huge demand for pickleball courts, and right now that is not being met, and more people are interested in playing it. Thank you.
