Burnaby council doesn't want to ruffle NIMBY feathers
Re: Burnaby has 'zero urgency' to fix rental housing crisis
Good letter about infill housing and Burnaby council's glacial pace. I feel that they do not feel the urgency for rental housing and they are just worried about their own jobs on council and don't want to ruffle any NIMBY feathers, because homeowners vote.
I hope the new provincial regulations will light a fire under them.

Bring back the Merry Christmas sign at city hall
An open letter to Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley:
I had reached out last November about the Merry Christmas sign that was on the City of Burnaby. I am trying to understand that if the city replaces displays that burn out each year, then why was the Merry Christmas sign retired?
This was a beautiful sign for all those years and for those of us celebrating. I think it was very poor of the city to "retire" this sign. I don't believe Christmas has retired, do you?
I am hoping that you will consider pulling out this beautiful sign out of retirement and put it back again for 2023.

Electric vehicles have environmental problems too
Re: Burnaby to get 27 more elusive electric vehicles
Too bad Burnaby doesn't care about the environment. It takes more C02 to make the battery for an electric car than to make an F150 Truck. Fact is the battery to make uses the same amount of C02 that a gas car driving 130,000 miles (200,000 km), plus very few plants can recycle lithium batteries and ones that do use a lot of C02.
Not only that, if all cars go electric we would need seven to nine Site C dams killing millions of trees under water. (Note: no more dams are possible in B.C.; it would kill the salmon runs.)

Kudos to teen for a well-written piece
Re: How I learned to stop worrying about marks and enjoy being a teenager
What a fabulous piece of writing from Skyler! This should be mandatory reading for every high school student, especially Grades 10 to 12. As an ex high school teacher, it was difficult at times to have students “be in the present."
Please pass on my congratulations to Skyler and wish her enjoyment in her future path of education.

Burnaby parks don't all need to be developed
The park is just fine as it is!
It's very scenic and serene as always; don't spoil it. If it's altered, it will just become part of the Metrotown concrete jungle.
