Re: Abbott criticizes teachers warning, Burnaby NOW, May 4.
Does George Abbott's hypocrisy know no bounds? A government minister who has threatened teachers with fines of up to $20 million per day even for trivial acts of protest hardly has the moral high ground when it comes to coercion.
Furthermore, Mr. Abbott knows full well that BCTF President Susan Lambert has said repeatedly that teachers would use "moral suasion," not sanctions, to get reluctant colleagues on side.
Time after time this government has introduced legislation that has arbitrarily and illegally stripped our contracts and violated our rights, according to both the B.C. Supreme Court and the International Labour Organization at the United Nations. Who is the bully here? It's not the BCTF.
