A new Canadian brand has quietly launched, and one of its first locations is in Vancouver.
Tucked away on a section of Broadway, straddling the Kitsilano-Fairview border, the new Rooms and Spaces occupies a massive space left empty when the similar Bed, Bath, and Beyond declared bankruptcy earlier this year.
The new store, located on the second floor of 1740 West Broadway, is very similar to the one that left, with a slightly different colour scheme and some different brands. The most notable difference is the inclusion of a Toys"R"Us "toy box" which occupies a large chunk of real estate in the store.
The huge space has exactly what you would expect--home products ranging from kitchen to dining room to bathroom to bedroom--in a gleaming store.
The new brand is from Doug Putman, who has a history of trying to revive brands and retail spaces, like Toys"R"Us and Sunrise Records in Canada. It's led by the former general manager of Bed, Bath and Beyond Canada, Greg Dyer, according to a previous press release.
The store's soft opening was Friday, Aug. 4 but a bigger event is planned for Aug. 19 to launch the brand. West Broadway is one of three stores (and will be the second) to get a Grand Opening.
According to the company's website, stores in Kelowna and Victoria have also opened, along with 15 other locations across Canada. One more in Langley is planned, at Langley City Square.
