Help raise funds for programs aimed at alleviating homelessness in the Lower Mainland during Burnaby’s first Coldest Night of the Year walk on Saturday, Feb. 25. There are two-, five- and 10-km routes. Make sure to dress for the weather. Registration ($25) starts at 4 p.m., with meal service at 6 p.m. The route, which starts and finishes at the Salvation Army (6125 Nelson Ave), closes at 8 p.m. Visit tinyurl.com/CNOYBurnaby for more information.  

Enjoy Family Storytime in American Sign Language and English at the Tommy Douglas library branch on Feb. 25 between 2 and 3 p.m. The event is free for children of all ages and abilities (who must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver). Check out The Incubator Project on Feb. 24 and 25 at the Shadbolt, 6450 Deer Lake Ave. The production develops new works with a unique range of dancers and musicians who are experimenting with new forms of technology to inspire innovative work. Take part in a workshop on how to plan a community garden on Feb. 25 at Burnaby Village Museum, 6051 Deer Lake Pkwy. Presenters Michael Denhamer and Jason Hsieh will be talking about finding possible garden space in your neighbourhood using maps and what the process of setting up a community garden looks like. Check out the racing at the Burnaby Velodrome on Feb. 24 (today) and Feb. 25. The Harry Jerome Sports Centre (7564 Barnet Hwy.) hosts the inaugural nationally sanctioned Western Challenge.
