A Burnaby performer is onstage in the next outing from the CapU Theatre Department.
Alexei Sidelnikov is part of the cast for Morris Panych’s 7 Stories, onstage at the BlueShore at CapU from Feb. 4 to 8.
7 Stories is a fast-paced satire that takes place on the window ledge of a seven-storey building where a man is contemplating suicide but is endlessly interrupted by a variety of quirky building residents.
Sidelnikov is one of those residents - Marshall, an actor who is leading a double life.
“When we meet him, he is 30 minutes away from marrying a woman for all the wrong (or right) reasons, depending on your moral standpoint,” Sidelnikov explained in an email. “He is a complex and controversial character who challenges the protagonist’s views, as do all the characters.”
Sidelnikov, who was born and raised right here in Burnaby, found his niche in theatre at Burnaby Central Secondary. After graduation, he followed his passion for acting to Capilano University.
“Capilano has helped me grow immensely as an actor,” he said. “Each director, teacher, instructor brings their own perspective to the craft, and there is always something new to be discovered from each of them.”
You can catch Sidelnikov and his castmates onstage at the BlueShore at CapU, 2055 Purcell Way, North Vancouver, for 8 p.m. shows Feb. 4 through 8, and a 2 p.m. matinee on Feb. 8.
