Flicks coming to Burnaby park

Film fans, grab your blankets and get ready to be entertained. The Burnaby parks and recreation department is hosting two more more outdoor movies this month. The Movies at Civic Square events have been running through the same, rain or shine.

The Burnaby parks and recreation department is hosting two more more outdoor movies this month.

The Movies at Civic Square events have been running through the same, rain or shine. Admission is free and organizers recommend bringing a blanket or low chair to watch the films.

Coming this week is City Monkey, set for Thursday night at 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.

The film is in Mandarin with English subtitles, and is an award-winning drama set in modern-day Beijing. The 19-year-old main character struggles to balance his time between the City Monkeys Parkour team and his university entrance exams. The film is rated PG.

The following Thursday, Aug. 25, the featured film will be Billu Barber, a Bollywood film in Hindi with English subitles, running from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. The film is based on a childhood friendship between the local barber and India's most famous movie star. The film is rated G.

The movie projector that plays the movies is provided with the support of AVW-TELAV Audio Visual Solutions.
