Burnaby COVID-19 immunizations continue to rise as cases continue to drop in B.C.

More people in Burnaby are continuing to receive their COVID-19 vaccine doses. 

According to the latest BCCDC COVID-19 Surveillance Data for June 1 to 7, 2021, all four Burnaby areas are starting to close in on 80% vaccination rates, mostly consisting of first doses. 

The data is released by the BC Centre for Disease Control. 

Vaccination rates, case loads, positivity rates for the four quadrants of Burnaby are as follows as of June 7. Case rates are new cases per 100,000 people by local health area and community health service area.

BURNABY NORTHWEST

  • Case rate: 4
  • Positivity rate: 2%
  • Vaccination percentage of those 12 years and older: 78% (as of June 7)
  • Vaccination percentage of those 18 years and older: 79% (as of June 7)

BURNABY NORTHEAST

  • Case rate: 7
  • Positivity rate: 7%
  • Vaccination percentage of those 12 years and older: 76% (as of June 7)
  • Vaccination percentage of those 18 years and older: 77% (as of June 7)

BURNABY SOUTHWEST

  • Case rate: 2
  • Positivity rate: 2%
  • Vaccination percentage of those 12 years and older: 73% (as of June 7)
  • Vaccination percentage of those 18 years and older: 75% (as of June 7)

On June 7, for the first time during the pandemic, the number of those in the province who received a second dose of a vaccine is higher than the number of those who received their initial dose.

 B.C. health officials provided 49,545 doses of vaccine on Monday to 18,283 new people, while 31,262 others received their dose needed to be considered fully vaccinated. 

As of yesterday (June 8), 74.2% of all adults in B.C. and 71.9% of those 12 and older have now received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. 

In total, 3,685,340 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C., 345,508 of which are second doses.
