Burnaby RCMP seek dashcam, witnesses for crash that killed pedestrian

Police are looking for dashcam and other video to determine the circumstances that led up to a crash that killed a pedestrian in Burnaby Thursday.

The fatal collision happened in the 4300 block of Hastings Street at about 11 a.m. and led to the death of  a 70-year-old woman, according to police.

Investigators have spoken to the driver, but Burnaby RCMP says more information is needed.

"We believe there are a few specific vehicles with dashcam video that could assist in our investigation," spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj said.

Police want to hear from any witnesses that have not yet spoken to police and anyone with video in the area of Hastings Street between Madison Avenue and Rosser Avenue from 10:50 to 11:10 a.m. Thursday.

"If you have recorded video of any type, including dash cam or electronic vehicle cameras, in the area at the time of the incident, please contact our investigators," Kalanj said.

The fatal collision Thursday was one of three serious, pedestrian-involved crashes in Burnaby within a 24-hour period.
