Another COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Burnaby Hospital.

According to yesterday's provincial COVID-19 update, Burnaby Hospital was one of three new health care facility outbreaks identified.

The number of cases detected, units affected and breakdown between residents and staff was not released.

The last outbreak at the hospital was declared on Jan. 12, 2022, when evidence of transmission had been discovered across three wards including three cases involving patients in a surgical unit, eight patients in an acute care elders unit and two patients in a medicine unit.

The affected units were temporarily closed to admissions.

The outbreak declaration was then lifted Jan. 27, 2022.

The NOW has reached out to Fraser Health for details on the outbreak declared yesterday but has not yet received a response as of publication. The story will be updated once information is provided.
