A Burnaby Italian restaurant is spreading some festive cheer this holiday season by delivering gourmet chef-prepared meals to local charitable organizations as part of its inaugural 10 Days of Glowbal Giving from Dec. 10 to 20.
Staff and management teams from 10 restaurant properties – including Trattoria Burnaby - will be participating in the 10 Days of Glowbal Giving.
Each restaurant will prepare ready-to-eat meals to be delivered to the following five local charities on a rotating basis throughout the giveaway period:
- Vancouver Firefighter Charities (VFC) Snacks for Kids: working in partnership with the Vancouver School Board, Snacks for Kids provides nutritional support to children and families through an accessible and anonymous distribution system.
- Atira Women's Resource Society:a not-for-profit organization committed to supporting women and children affected by violence by offering them safe and supportive housing.
- Chelsea Tower: an affordable, independent living residence that provides housing and amenities for seniors and people living with disabilities.
- Directions Youth Services : a youth-focused organization providing low-barrier programs and services to individuals under 25 who are in crisis or experiencing homelessness.
- Kilala Lelum (Urban Indigenous Health and Healing Cooperative): this cooperative group aims to partner Indigenous Elders with physicians and allied health professionals to provide care to the community in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
Glowbal has partnered with food recovery program Vancouver Food Runners to enlist volunteer drivers to transport meals to Atira Women's Resource Society, Chelsea Tower, Directions Youth Services and Kilala Lelum. Off-Duty firefighters will take the lead in delivering meals to children and families enrolled in the VFC Snacks for Kids program. Each charitable organization will receive two rounds of meal deliveries throughout the campaign.
Glowbal Restaurant Group has delivered more than 12,000 meal donations so far this year as part of its COVID-19 relief efforts. From March to June, Glowbal's meal delivery program provided much-needed nutritional support to frontline healthcare workers and vulnerable community groups in Vancouver and beyond. The charitable initiative was supported by generous individual and corporate sponsors who donated funds to cover food and labour costs.
