1 Get celebrating Earth Fest at the Burnaby Lake Rowing Pavilion on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The annual Earth Day event is put on by the Wildlife Rescue Association, which rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife at a facility on Burnaby Lake.

The association is organizing guided wildlife walks, bird and bee box building activities, canoe rides, face painting, a treasure hunt, crafts and arts. Admission is free, but the association will have donations boxes out. The event drew approximately 1,100 people last year. For more information about the association, go to www. wildliferescue.ca.

2 Get learning about caring for elderly family members at a free information and speakers' fair put on by the Burnaby Seniors Outreach Services Society on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., at the Holiday Inn Metrotown, 4405 Central Blvd. There will be about 20 information tables and five different talks throughout the day on Alzheimer's disease, legal issues, declut-tering when an elderly person has to move, and stress management for caregivers. 3 Get tasting wine and food while enjoying music in an unusual setting - Lougheed Town Centre. The Rotary Club of Metrotown is holding its annual Wine, Food and Music Festival on Saturday from 7: 30 to 9: 30 p.m. The event includes a blend of wine, food, and musical entertainment, and there will also be a silent auction and door prizes.

Funds raised at the event go to local B.C. Rotary literacy programs, the Down Syndrome Research Foundation, polio eradication and other local Burnaby and international charities. Tickets are $40 each, or 10 or more for $35 each, and are available at Customer Service at Lougheed Town Centre.

Raffle tickets will be $5 each and the prizes include an electric bicycle from EPIK Bikes ($2,000 value), a chef tasting dinner for six at Joey's Burnaby ($400 value), four golf passes for a round of golf ($260 value) and a $100 Lougheed Town Centre gift card.

4 Get thrifty at the spring thrift sale at Cliff Avenue United Church, put on with Sae Nal Korean Church. The sale takes place from 9 to 11: 30 a.m. at 1600 Cliff Ave. There will be household items, books, jewelry, toys, muffins and coffee, and more.

5 Get gardening after picking up plants at the South Burnaby Garden Club's annual plant sale on Sunday. The sale is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Buy-Low Foods parking lot at Royal Oak Avenue and Rumble Street. The sale will include many perennials, annuals, seedlings, gently used tools and more. This year's focus is on the "edible garden."
