Ex-midget goes to Oilers in fourth round

Former major midget Northwest Giants winger Jackson Houck was drafted in the fourth round by the Edmonton Oilers at the NHL entry draft last weekend.

Former major midget Northwest Giants winger Jackson Houck was drafted in the fourth round by the Edmonton Oilers at the NHL entry draft last weekend.

Houck was picked up from the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League with the 94th pick of the draft.

Last season, Houck led the Giants in scoring with 23 goals and 34 assists and was named the team's MVP, as well as most improved player in 2013.

In 2011, Houck finished third in major midget team scoring with 21 goals and 38 points.
