Trail lovers in Burnaby can rejoice as the final section of the Central Park Perimeter Trail is now complete.
The city has deemed it "the most comfortable trail in Metro Vancouver."
The 3.5-kilometre circuit offers a "unique experience," with a rubberized track, lighting, tree cover and connections to the BC Parkway, according to a city press release.
Mayor Mike Hurley said the trail is designed for everyone to enjoy.
"The Central Park Perimeter Trail is a fabulous new feature in Burnaby and it's great to see so many people using it to be active, have fun and connect with their neighbours," Hurley said in the release.
The four-metre-wide trail is one of the longest rubberized tracks in Metro Vancouver, giving walkers and runners a comfortable fitness experience.
Unlike traditional asphalt tracks, portions of the Central Park Perimeter Trail are designed with porous materials to allow water circulation to important tree root zones, according to the release.
The city invites community groups to host fundraising runs and walks on two trails in Central Park, both the Perimeter Trail and the Trail of Hope.
