More than 25 “spine-tingling” Halloween events are coming to Burnaby this fall, according to the local tourism board.
Tourism Burnaby has announced the lineup for this October’s Burnaby Halloween Festival and says this year is “shaping up to be bigger and better than ever before.”
"We’re thrilled to see how the Burnaby Halloween Festival has grown into a major celebration that the whole community looks forward to every year,” said Chris Peters, executive director at Tourism Burnaby.
“With an exciting mix of returning favourites and new, innovative events, this year’s festival is set to deliver unforgettable experiences for everyone. We can’t wait to welcome visitors from near and far as we continue our journey toward becoming Canada's top Halloween destination.”
Pumpkins After Dark will return to Central Park in Metrotown Oct. 3 with more than 6,000 hand-carved pumpkins choreographed to music and special effects.
Spooky Central Spark on Oct. 25 will feature games, food trucks, entertainment and a big fireworks display.
A new event, Ghost Hunt: Hauntington Manor by Bamboozled Escape Games, an interactive haunted house for guests at Metrotown mall to test their mettle.
Take Halloween-themed cooking classes with renowned Burnaby chef and business owner, Hollie Fraser, who owns Punk Rock Pastries and is a two-time Food Network Champion.
SFU will host a Halloween Candlelight Concert with “hauntingly beautiful melodies.”

Want to chase away the scaries? Participate in the Monster Dash 5K on Oct. 20 and run in your costume.
Eat in a pumpkin pie contest at Metrotown mall to claim the title of “Pumpkin Pie Champion.”
Dageraad Brewing will host pumpkin carving, live music, food and the team from the Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (pumpkins available by donation to PADS) at “Dagerpaatch.”
And don’t forget to submit your Halloween bedecked home for the chance to win a $1,000 prize and the title of best-decorated house. (You can also submit an application for a house decorating grant.)
Other events will include a two-day gaming festival (Burnaby Boo-rawl), Burnaby Village Museum’s Haunted Village: Legends, Tales and Other Stories, and a horror film festival – with more to come.
