A new fine art studio is coming to Christine Sinclair Community Centre.

Burnaby's Christine Sinclair Community Centre just got a little more artsy.

A new "beautifully renovated" fine arts studio dedicated to visual arts and ceramics classes will open at the centre for programs this fall, according to a city press release.

The studio, which includes a kiln room for ceramics and specialized visual arts equipment, will be operated by the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.

"This expansion enriches our culture programming and invites the community to explore their creativity in this brand new specialized space," said public affairs officer Cole Wagner in the release.

Some of the specialized equipment "to make it a proper visual arts studio" are a custom stainless steel sink with a specialized catch basin, stainless steel countertops, art-specific lighting, custom designed millwork, concrete floors and a visual arts drying rack, Wagner told the Burnaby NOW.

Pottery-specific features include the ceramic kiln, slab roller, greenware area and extruder.

Programs will begin in October.

Burnaby residents can register for classes at the new studio beginning Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. and everyone else can register Friday, Aug. 16.
