Half of Burnaby children aged 5 to 11 years of age have received first COVID-19 vaccine dose

A BCCDC report says 35% of children aged 5-11 in Burnaby have received one dose of COVID-19 as of Dec. 20, 2021.

Burnaby's child vaccination rate continues to increase. 

According to the BCCDC COVID-19 surveillance dashboard, 50% of children aged 5-11 have received their first dose as of Jan. 11, 2022, up from 44% as of Jan. 4, 2022. 

Burnaby is still tied with the Tri-Cities in percentage, while New Westminster continues to have the highest rate in Fraser Health at 53%. 

Percentages of communities in Fraser Health are as follows (As of Jan. 11, 2022):

  • New Westminster - 53%
  • Tri-Cities - 50%
  • Burnaby - 50%
  • South Surrey/White Rock - 51%
  • Delta - 49%
  • Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows - 43%
  • Langley - 40%
  • Chilliwack - 29%
  • Surrey - 28%
  • Abbotsford - 29%
  • Mission - 27%
  • Agassiz/Harrison - 26%
  • Hope - 21%

The Central Coast, located in Vancouver Coastal Health, continues to have the highest percentage in B.C. at 75%.
