Here's who's running for Burnaby's MP seats during the April 28 federal election.

With general voting day just weeks away, candidates are being announced fast and furious.

Here's who is running in Burnaby's four ridings, which have changed since the last federal election in 2021.

In May 2022, the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for BC recommended the creation of new ridings while making changes to others, mainly due to a rise in the provincial population.

It was mandated to provide 43 electoral districts, an increase of one compared to the last allotment.

The Canadian constitution requires the re-configuring of electoral district boundaries every 10 years after the decennial census is completed.

Burnaby is now included in the following ridings:

  • Burnaby Central
  • Burnaby North-Seymour
  • New Westminster-Burnaby-Maillardville
  • Vancouver Fraserview-South Burnaby

Elections Canada says a complete list of all confirmed candidates will be available on April 9.

The NOW will update this list should more candidates declare or candidates drop out.

In an April 2 statement to the Record, a Conservative campaign spokesperson confirmed Singh will not be a candidate for the Conservative Party, but no further details were provided.
