Four homes were evacuated in North Burnaby Tuesday evening because of a ruptured natural gas line.
Fortis BC was called to the 4500 block of Albert Street at about 7:20 p.m. for reports of a gas line hit, according to a media spokesperson.
Posts on social media reported a “heavy gas smell” in the area.

Fortis said one service line running into a home had been damaged by an “external party” (not Fortis) and was repaired by about 9:30 p.m.
Firefighters evacuated four homes as a precaution, according to Fortis, but service to customers was not interrupted.
