The integrated homicide investigation team is awaiting autopsy results before releasing any information on the body that turned up in Burnaby on Friday Morning.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound, media relations officer for IHIT, said autopsy results are expected on Monday afternoon.

The body was found in the bushes off Fareham Avenue and Elwell Road in the George Derby Conservation Area, and reported to Burnaby RCMP around 9 a.m. Friday morning. IHIT took over the investigation and spent the weekend collecting evidence from the scene.

Pound said Monday that police are still not ready to release any information regarding the victim's sex, cause of death, or how long the victim had been at that location, saying all of that information would be considered possible evidence at this point.

Pound said, depending on the results of Monday's autopsy, IHIT may release more information in hopes that someone from the public may be able to help identify the body or provide information that may help in the investigation.

"If anybody does have information, contact IHIT," Pound said.
