Burnaby's favourite celebrity Michael Bublé has the most expensive house in town, according to BC Assessment.

The home at 7868 Government Rd. is now worth $26,318,000, up 3.9 per cent from last year's valuation at $25,529,000.

It was the only Burnaby property in BC Assessment's list of the top 500 valued residential properties this year.

Bublé's Burnaby home came in at the 38th most expensive in the province.

A 2015 rezoning report shows the home was planned to be a 27,625 square-foot one-storey home with two basement levels and an attached three-car garage, with a 6,000-sq. ft. outdoor patio, a swimming pool and a tennis court.

The 2.3-acre property was consolidated from two lots in 2014.

BC Assessment lists the home's square footage at around 12,000 sq. ft.

The city approved a variance in 2015 allowing the property to have an eight-foot fence, five feet higher than the maximum.

B.C. home prices increase 'notably less'

All local homeowners will be getting their property assessment in the mail soon, and they can expect to see "only modest changes in the range of -5 per cent to +5 per cent," according to BC Assessment assessor Bryan Murao.

"These assessment changes are notably less than previous years," Murao said in a press release, adding, "the overall housing market has generally stabilized in value."

The assessed value change from 2023 versus 2024 for a typical single-family Burnaby home was +4 per cent to $1,973,000.

For typical Burnaby townhomes, it was a +1 per cent change to $731,000.

Last year's increases were 12 per cent and 10 per cent for single-family homes and townhomes respectively.
