Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government could fall with Burnaby MP and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh announcing his party will table a non-confidence motion against the prime minister.
A political storm continues to swirl around Trudeau after the shocking resignation of former finance minister and deputy prime minister Chrystia Freeland on Monday, Dec. 16, which prompted Singh to urge Trudeau to resign immediately.
On Friday morning, Dec. 20, Singh posted a letter to social media claiming Trudeau has failed as prime minister.
"The NDP will vote to bring this government down and give Canadians a chance to vote for a government who will work for them," he said.
"The Trudeau Liberals said a lot of the right things. Then they let people down again and again.
"The Liberals don't deserve another chance. That's why the NDP will vote to bring this government down and give Canadians a chance to vote for a government who will work for them. No matter who is leading the Liberal Party, this government's time is up."
Singh said the party will put forward a non-confidence motion during the next sitting of the House of Commons.
"I called for Justin Trudeau to resign and he should."
Justin Trudeau failed in the biggest job a Prime Minister has: to work for people, not the powerful.

Freeland revealed Trudeau had told her he did not want her to serve as finance minister any longer and apparently offered her another position in his cabinet, adding herself and Trudeau had been at "odds about the best path forward for Canada" for a "number of weeks."
At a later news conference, Singh called out Trudeau and the Liberals for fighting amongst themselves, asking on Trudeau to immediately resign.
Today, I am calling on Justin Trudeau to resign.

"Right now, Canadians are struggling with the cost of living," the Burnaby MP told reporters in Ottawa.
"I hear it everywhere I go. They can't find a home they can afford; can't buy their groceries. And on top of that, we have [president-elect] Trump threatening tariffs of 25 per cent which [would] put hundreds and thousands of Canadian jobs at risk.
"Instead of focusing on these issues, Justin Trudeau and the Liberals are focused on themselves. They're fighting themselves instead of fighting for Canadians.
"For that reason, I'm calling on Trudeau to resign. He has to go."
