More COVID-19 infections have been found at a pair of Burnaby care facilities currently under COVID-19 outbreak declarations.
Fraser Health has told the NOW there have been seven confirmed cases at the Swedish Assisted Living Residence involving five staff and two residents.
An outbreak was declared on Oct. 19, 2021, when three cases were detected.
The care home, located at 7230 Halifax St., is an assisted living centre owned and operated by the Swedish Canadian Rest Home Association.
Another outbreak at the Rideau Retirement Residence has seen four infections to date, all involving residents.
Fraser Health declared an outbreak at the facility on Oct. 27, 2021, when two confirmed cases were announced.
It's owned and operated by Sienna Senior Living.
Fraser Health says its implemented the following extra measures when declaring the outbreaks:
- Supporting staff levels to maintain resident care
- Restricting social visits in the affected areas of the facility (Essential visits can continue)
- Modifying staff and residents movement in the affected areas of the facility
- Enhancing cleaning and infection control measures
- Notifying residents, families and staff
- Screening staff and residents twice a day
- Conducting additional testing and screening
There are is another outbreak affecting the Cascade Gardens Seniors Community, also in Burnaby.
