Burnaby NOW reporter Christina Myers is a finalist for the 2012 Canadian Community Newspaper Association awards.
Her article, Homes shrouded in history and mystery, was named as a top-three contender for Best Historical Story in its circulation division (for newspapers with circulation above 12,500.)
As well, the NOW was named as a finalist for the Outstanding Community Service award (circulation 10,000 and over) for its support and coverage of the 2011 Burnaby Christmas Bureau campaign.
Nearly 2,500 entries in a variety of categories were reviewed for the national awards. Winners will be announced in Toronto at an awards gala on April 26.
Myers is also a finalist for the provincial B.C. Yukon Community Newspaper Association awards, in the business writing category for an article published in the NOW's sister paper, The Record.
The provincial award winners will be announced on April 14, at an awards ceremony in Richmond.
