Pedestrian, 25, in critical condition after Burnaby crash; RCMP seek dashcam video

A 25-year-old woman was hit in the area of Union Street and Sperling Avenue at about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday night and sustained 'life-threatening injuries,' according to police.

Police are looking for witnesses and dashcam video in a crash that left a pedestrian with "life-threatening injuries" Tuesday night.

Burnaby RCMP officers responded to the area of Union Street and Sperling Avenue at about 10:40 p.m. for reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian, according to a police news release Thursday.

The detachment said a 24-year-old woman was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation, according to the release.

Impaired driving was not a contributing factor, police said.

"We have spoken with several witnesses who were in the area at the time, but if you witnessed this incident and haven't yet spoken to police or if you have dashcam video in the area, please contact our investigators," Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in the release.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dashcam footage in the area of Union Street and Sperling Avenue between 10 and 11 p.m. is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
