Pickup enters Burnaby construction site, collides with concrete block

Burnaby RCMP is looking for witnesses and dashcam video of a Toyota Tacoma that entered a Brentwood construction site and knocked a concrete block into another vehicle.

Police are looking for witnesses and dashcam video of an incident that saw a pickup truck enter a Burnaby construction site, knock a concrete block into another vehicle and then back into a pallet of construction materials Tuesday morning.

Police were called to the south end of Beta Avenue in the Brentwood area at about 9:10 a.m. for reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck, according to a Burnaby RCMP news release.

“Witnesses indicated a white Toyota Tacoma had crashed into a concrete block, which caused the block to strike another vehicle legally parked at the location,” the release said. “The pickup truck then reversed and collided with a wooden pallet holding construction materials.”

The 40-year-old male driver was unconscious when first responders arrived, and he was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

“Investigators are currently looking into all factors of the collision, including the possibility of driver impairment,” Burnaby RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj said in the release. It is fortunate nobody else was injured in this incident.

Kalanj told the NOW the pickup truck was not connected to the construction site.

Anyone who saw the crash or might have dashcam video of it or of the truck in the area before the collision is asked to call Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999. Quote file number 23-19787.
