Pietro Calendino was born in Italy and his family moved to British Columbia in 1959. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with two degrees and also holds a teaching certificate from Simon Fraser University. He has had a successful 30-year career as a school teacher.

Living in Burnaby for more than 37 years, Pietro is married to his wife Cedna and they are proud parents of daughter Victoria Milena who holds a certificate in early childhood education and currently works training teachers in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Pietro is fluent in both English and Italian and has been very active in community issues in Burnaby for almost all of his adult life. Now in his 60s, he has served on Burnaby's school board, as an MLA in Burnaby North and has been successfully elected to city council since 2002.

Recognizing that municipal government is the closest level of government to the people, Pietro is closely connected to the community and is accessible, helpful and active in bringing concerns to the forefront and taking action on issues that benefit residents in Burnaby.

When asked why he is seeking a fourth term on council, Pietro replies, "I love connecting with citizens and business in order to keep Burnaby growing as a welcoming, vibrant, innovative and safe city. I am determined to ensure the development of Burnaby results in a pedestrian friendly, walkable urban community."
