Snow has forced SFU to close its Burnaby campus for the remainder of the day on Tuesday (Feb. 28).

Simon Fraser University's (SFU) Burnaby campus is being closed for the rest of Tuesday (Feb. 28) due to heavy snowfall.

On social media, the post-secondary institution said campus buildings remain open, but the Bennett Library and Lorne Davies Sports Complex will be closed and all in-person classes, exams, university services and campus activities are cancelled for the entire day.

"We will continue to monitor weather conditions and will provide an update tomorrow by 6 a.m. about the status of campuses being open on March 1," another tweet said.

SFU said all in-person classes at its Surrey and Vancouver campuses as well as online classes will proceed as scheduled.

A snowfall warning issued by Environment Canada for Metro Vancouver, including Burnaby, says up to 10 cm of snow is expected today.
