The YWCA of Metro Vancouver has announced 78 nominees for the 2023 and 40th annual Women of Distinction Awards, with six being from Burnaby.
The YWCA Women of Distinction Awards honour individuals and organizations whose outstanding activities and achievements contribute to the well-being and future of the community.
The 2023 nominees living and/or working in Burnaby are:
- Business and Professions
- Anita Bhandari — chief human resources officer, City of Burnaby
- Community Champion
- Pepita Elena McKee — founder and CEO, Impact Resolutions
- Education, training and development
- Dr. Poh Tan — CEO and founder, STEMedge Academy Inc.
- Health and Wellness
- Dr. Karen Tee — Associate Executive Director, Foundry
- Outstanding Workplace
- Microserve
- Para Space Landscaping Inc.
Award recipients will be honoured at the Women of Distinction Awards Gala at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver on May 9.
