Shoppers in North Burnaby are getting some good news this week with the announcement that a pair of fashion giants are adding mega-stores in the Amazing Brentwood.
Shape Properties, which is developing the growing shopping mall and multiple residential towers on the site across from the Brentwood SkyTrain station, updated the NOW on its progress.
To date, 10 stores are now open, including the Sporting Life and Nike, and the mall is now 90% leased out. Some stores have had to delay their openings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Shape said progress on many stores, such as the new Adidas store, have accelerated. The mall is also adding a Suit Supply to its roster of fashion brands.
And Shape also dropped the news that it has scored fashion giants H&M and Urban Outfitters to open mega-stores in the Amazing Brentwood.
H&M is already farther along in building a new store and Urban Outfitters has now put up signage announcing this will be its new location.
H&M, a Swedish fashion retailer, already operates two stores in Burnaby, one at Lougheed Town Centre and another at the city’s biggest mall, Metropolis at Metrotown.
This will be the first Urban Outfitters in Burnaby. The retailer also operates two stores in Vancouver and one in West Vancouver.
Shape also confirmed that Cineplex is still working on construction of two big additions to the Amazing Brentwood. The company, which currently has its theatres closed in B.C. due to COVID-19, is putting the finishing touches on its huge Rec Room entertainment complex that includes video games, arcade games and more. Cineplex is also planning to open a multi-screen VIP movie theatre in another area of the Amazing Brentwood. Cineplex also operates a theatre at Metropolis at Metrotown.
A Fitness World location was supposed to go into the mall, but the company’s financial woes meant it had to pull out. But Shape says it has just signed a new deal for Evolve Strength to open a new fitness facility in the mall that will draw upon a large number of residents in all of the huge residential towers that have been built and will be built in the future.
