As the weather warms up, it's time for miniature enthusiasts to hie their way out to North Burnaby and ride the rails of a one-eighth-scale model train.
Operated by BC Society of Model Engineers volunteers, Burnaby Central Railway will begin its 31st season at Confederation Park on Friday, March 29.
You can ride a hand-crafted mini steam train on a two-mile, 10-minute excursion through the woods, complete with bridges, tunnels, crossovers and spirals, according to the society's website.
And that's just one of the trains you can see at Burnaby Central Railway, which is also home to battery-powered miniature electric and diesel locomotives, a gas-powered hydraulic engine and a garden railway with even smaller trains to visit.
For heritage train fans and those who want a unique way to celebrate, the railway offers bookings for birthday parties and private functions.
