Camille Cruz and Anton Bailey were recently named Burnaby Mountain Secondary School's senior female and male athletes of the year.
Alannah Yao earned the Grade 11 girls' top athlete award, while Jessica Guan took the junior girls' prize.
Julia Hodanic and Eric Cheng won their respective Grade 9 female and male athlete of the year award.
Devon Issac and Michelle Sargent were the male and female award winners in Grade 8.
THREE-SPORTERS
Three-sport athletes, Mikey Carney and Sarah Hughes, were named the senior athlete award winners at St. Thomas More Collegiate this year.
Carney, who excelled in football as the provincial high school Grade 11 player of the year, also played varsity basketball and track and field for the Knights.
Hughes, who helped STM to the AAA provincials in volleyball and AA provincials soccer, just missed a third appearance at the B.C.'s with the Knight girls' basketball team.
Alexis Llewellyn and Giovanni Trasolini earned recognition as STM's junior girls' and boys' athletes of the year, respectively.
ATHLETIC AZTECS
Alpha Secondary handed out its top year-end athletic award to Grade 12 Aztecs student athlete Estefan Corra.
Lianna Wong was named the Grade 11 athlete of the year. Wong also took the grade's Meechin prize.
Winning the Meechin award in Grade 12 was senior Roman Isaac.
Jag Sandhu was named the school's junior athlete of the year, while Grade 8 student Ashley Steele took the junior girls' award.
